LEXINGTON, VA – The #16 Union College women's lacrosse team recorded 11 unanswered goals in the first half as they cruised to a 17-3 victory over #17 Washington and Lee on Tuesday afternoon at Watt Field.

W&L (5-4) added a tally from junior midfielder Emmy Mathews with 6:25 remaining in the first half to put the Generals on the board (11-1). However, Union responded with a goal of their own from LaForest with :13 seconds remaining in the first stanza to take a 12-1 lead into the half, and never looked back as they claimed the 14-goal victory.
The Generals were paced by Emmy Mathews, who recorded two goals, while junior midfielder Ellie Van Sant recorded W&L's only other goal. Junior goalkeeper Katharine Farrar (Lexington, Va./Episcopal) recorded the loss, playing 54:45 in net and stopping three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Jennifer Linder saw 5:15 between the pipes, recording one save.
The Dutchwomen were led by Joyce, who tallied four goals and one assist. UC also received three goals apiece from Hine, LaForest and Skurek, with Hine also notching three assists. Junior goalkeeper

Union has another big test Friday, when the Dutchwomen play at the newly ranked #1 team in the country, Salisbury University, at 4 p.m.
