Kristin Joyce scored six goals and junior defender and midfielder
Melissa Hine had a goal with three assists as the #13 Union women's lacrosse team downed Rensselaer, 15-6 at Frank Bailey Field Saturday afternoon. The Dutchwomen are now 3-0 in the league, and 5-4 overall, after a third straight victory, while the Engineers fell to 5-4 overall and 2-2 in league play.

Abby Stohler scored two goals each to lead the Dutchwomen, who had a 25-19 shot advantage on the day. Union also won 14 of the 23 draw controls and had 24 ground balls. Each team forced 13 turnovers.
Junior Midfielder/attack Afton Marshall (Windham, NH) and freshman attack Shannon Maguire (Randolph, NJ) scored two goals each for Rensselaer, which scored three free position goals, all in the second half.
Union junior goaltender
Cat Ruggiero made seven saves and did not allow a goal in 44:13 before coming out with a 13-0 Union lead.
Alexis Deeb stopped three Engineers shots int he final 15:47. Senior goalkeeper Ariana Hood (Severn, MD) made seven saves for Rensselaer.
The Dutchwomen scored three goals in the first 6:51, and Hine assisted on Joyce's first goal with 24:07 left. Hine then assisted on scores by Joyce and LaForest and the Dutchwomen led 5-0 with 10:12 remaining. Joyce scored three of Union's five goals in the final 8:30 of the first half, and
Abby Stohler scored a free position with 3:11 left to provide the eventual halftime score of 10-0.

Heather Fraser and
Brittany Fraser made it 12-0 to open the half and Joyce scored her final goal of the day, and 37th of the season, 7:22 into the second half for a 13-0 lead. RPI tallied the next three with Maguire notching her 11th of the year with 13:42 left, followed by Marshall and then Maguire again with 7:34 remaining. Union got the next two to make it 15-3 but RPI scored three free position goals in the last 1:38, including Marshall's 17th of the season.
Union is next in action on April 13 at #Middlebury, and it will be the sixth game this season against a nationally ranked program. The Engineers return to action for a league game at St. Lawrence on Friday, April 16.
