ROCHESTER, NY -- The 12th-ranked Union College women's lacrosse team received goals from eight different student-athletes to cruise to a 15-1 victory against Liberty League foe Rochester on Friday afternoon. Junior
Kristin Joyce led all scorers with four goals and junior
Cat Ruggiero made seven saves to improve the Dutchwomen's record to 7-4 overall and 4-0 in conference action. Andrea DeFilippo scored Rochester's lone goal, moving its record to 2-8 and 1-2 in the Liberty League.
It took Union only 34 seconds to get on the board as senior
Allie Cuozzo found the back of the net on a pass from junior
Melissa Hine, who registered seven assists on the day.
Joyce followed with a three-goal blitz, scoring a 25:06, 24:06 and 22:30, giving the Dutchwomen a 4-0 lead. Sophomore
Danielle Ayers joined Cuozzo and Hines by earning helpers on the tallies.
The Dutchwomen extended their lead to 10 goals with six more goals before the half. Senior
Jill LaForest added two during that span and Cuozzo found paydirt for the second time.
Junior Abbey Stohler began the scoring in the second half and the Dutchwomen put it on cruise control the rest of the way, earning their its fifth straight victory.
Union returns to action on Tuesday, April 20 at 4 p.m. with a matchup against Cortland.
