Williams bests Baseball 15-6

SCHENECTADY, NY – Playing in there fifth game in three days, the Union College baseball team dropped an outing, 15-7, against Williams College on Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore second baseman Kevin Dexter produced three RBIs for the Dutchmen and hit a two-run homerun – the first long ball of his season.
 
The Ephs got a three RBI performance from junior catcher James Allison, who went 3-for-4 and scored four runs. In all six of the seven Williams' student-athletes to register a hit, produced more than one.
 
Junior pitcher Dan Marcet earned the victory, throwing three innings and allowing one earn run. Freshman Cody Portin was given the loss. He pitched two innings and struck out two.
 
Allison helped Williams establish a 6-0 lead after an inning and a half when he tripled in the top of the second after the Ephs grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first. Allison's three-bagger scored senior second baseman Jim Entwisle and freshman third baseman Taylor Mondshein.
 
Freshman catcher Marc Douglas got Union on the board in the bottom of the second with a RBI double off the leftfield fence. An inning latter Dexter sent his long ball over the centerfield wall.
 
The Ephs responded with three runs in the fourth and two in the second. After junior DH Anthony Cassese homered in the sixth, Williams answered with a pair in the eighth and one in the ninth.
 
In all Williams registered 17 hits to Union's 10 and registered at least one run in seven of the nine innings.
 
The Dutchmen return to action on Wednesday, April 21 with a 2 p.m. outing at SUNY IT.
