SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College baseball team lost a pair of games to Clarkson on Saturday at Central Park. The Golden Knights defeated the Dutchmen 12-1 in game one and 6-5 in the second game.
The win improves Clarkson to 12-12 overall and 8-6 in Liberty League while the Dutchmen fall to 7-21 overall and 1-13 in Liberty League.
In the first game, Matt Curry went 4-for-4 with a triple three RBI and he circled the bases twice. Justin McInerney went 3-for-4 with two RBI and scored a run.
Joe Privitera led the Dutchmen in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 including an RBI.
The Golden Knights' Jerry Coleman led off the game with a triple to left field. McInerney singled to right field to score in Coleman. At the end of the first inning, Clarkson led 7-0. The Golden Knights would add two more runs in the second inning when Brett Peplowski (Albany, NY) scored off a triple by Brady Torbitt. Curry's single scored Torbitt and the Golden Knights led 8-0.
Union's run came in the fourth inning when Privitera's single scored
Paul Mene from second base.
Right hander David Goerold pitched all seven innings played, striking out five and only walked one batter to improve his record to 4-2.
Seth Roberts went four innings and falls to 0-4.
In the second game, five Dutchmen went 2-for-4 at the plate,

Dylan Katz-Wicks,
Anthony Cassese,
Dane Flavin,
Andy Brown and
Emmanuel Fabre.
Heck and Katz-Wicks led off the first inning each scoring a run off a right field single by Flavin. Cassese would score Union's third run on a fielder's choice.
Pete Clarke, Chris Falteisek and Peplowski each went 2-for-4. While Clarke and Peplowski each drove in a RBI, Falateisek circled the bases twice. In the eighth inning, Falateisek singled to left field but a fielding error allowed him to circle around the bases and tie the game at five runs apiece.
Coleman scored the go-ahead run in the ninth off a wild pitch by left hander
Colin McKelligan, who was credited the loss and falls to 0-2.
Left hander
Phil Kemp pitched eight solid innings, striking out eight and allowing only three earned runs. Clarkson's Alex Giovannone pitched 5.2 innings in relieve, striking out eight and not allowing a run to earn the win and improve his record to 2-0.
The Dutchmen and Golden Knights conclude the four-game series on Sunday afternoon at Central Park. First pitch is scheduled to start at noon.
