FORDHAM, NJ -- The Union College volleyball team capped off a fabulous day at Fairleigh Dickinson University with an impressive five set victory over the host school that entered the match with a 15-4 record. Union defeated FDU, 26-24, 23-25, 16-25, 25-19 and 17-15, and improved to 6-5 on the season.
Earlier in the day, the Dutchwomen swept both Regis and Arcadia. The first match was won by scores of 25-14, 25-14 and 25-15, and the win over Arcadia was by scores of 25-20, 25-20 and 25-10.
In the first match, Mackenzie Westfall had 24 assists and six service aces, and Eve Richards recorded nine digs with seven kills. Jordan Remillard had a team high 11 kills in the victory.
Westfall dished out 42 assists in the triumph over Arcadia. Casey Tepper posted 12 kills with seven digs and Erika Van Valkenburg led the Dutchwomen with 17 kills. Richards had 10 digs with seven kills in this win.
Union trailed two sets to one before coming back to beat a strong Fairleigh Dickinson team on its own home court. Richards and Jordan Remillard had 13 kills each and Tepper had 18 digs with her 17 kills. Van Valkenburg finished with 23 digs and Carissa Vazzana had 15 digs for the match.
The Dutchwomen host Williams College Tuesday night at 7 p.m.
