Volleyball falls in four sets to Williams College

SCHENECTADY, N.Y.  -  Junior outside hitter Eve Richards had 15 kills and 14 digs, and freshman setter Mackenzie Westfall had 39 assists, but the Union College volleyball team fell in four sets to Williams College at the Viniar Athletic Center.

With the loss, Union fell to 8-7 on the season, while the Ephs improved to 7-6.

In the first set the Dutchwomen took an early 5-0 lead, but Williams chipped away at the margin, eventually taking the set, 26-24, with a late rally.
·      Union came back in the second set, rallying after Williams took an early lead.  Mackenzie Westfall had four crucial late assists, and Eve Richards who had seven kills in the set to help the Dutchwomen to a 25-17 win.
·      Williams took an early 4-0 lead the third set and expanded on the margin throughout the frame on their way to a 25-16 win.
·      Williams took another early lead in the fourth set, leading 7-2 when Union called a timeout. The Dutchwomen remained within five points at 18-13, but the Ephs pulled away for a 25-16 win. 

Union will travel to Hoboken, NJ for the Stevens Invitational, beginning on Oct. 1, with a 4:00 p.m. match against Stevens Institute of Technology.
