SCHENECTADY, NY - - Union College men's soccer forward
Nick Vozzella has been honored as the Liberty League's Co-Rookie of the Week for the week ending September 5. Vozzella, a freshman, scored his first collegiate goal in the first game of his career against Cazenovia College in the Union College Soccer Classic on Friday afternoon.
Vozzella received a pass from teammate
Tim Pryor in front of the net and turned around in traffic, tucking the ball past the keeper to put Union up 2-0 with 7:32 remaining in the first half.
The goal by Vozzella was one of seven goals that Union scored in two games last week, while refusing to allow a goal. Union defeated Cazenovia 5-0 and followed that with a 2-0 shutout of Worcester State University on Saturday night.
Vozzella and the men's soccer team will return to action at 7 p.m. Tuesday night when they host Western Connecticut State University at College Park.
