Raiders Defeat Dutchwomen

SCHENECTADY, NY- Visiting Colgate scored 3:01 into the first period and that was all they needed as they defeated the women's ice hockey team 1-0 on Friday night.
 
Union had two power play opportunities in the first period but couldn't capitalize on either. At the first intermission, Colgate led in shots 14-5.
 
For the game, the Dutchwomen were 0-for-2 on the power play while Colgate was 0-for-3.
 
Union pulled goaltender Kate Gallagher with 51 seconds left to play for the extra advantage. The Raiders missed two shot attempts on an open goal with one hitting the post.
 
Gallgher made 41 saves in net for the Dutchwomen. Lisa Plenerleith had 18 saves for the Raiders.
 
In overall shots, Colgate led 42-18.
 
Union returns to the ice tomorrow to host #2 Cornell at 4 pm.
 
NOTES: Gallagher has 40+ saves in four games this season….The one goal allowed by Union marked the fewest allowed against Colgate in the series history dating back to 1998….Only one penalty was called in the second and third periods with both by the Dutchwomen.
