Dutchwomen Fall to Catamounts

Cromartie scored her second goal of the season

SCHENECTADY, NY- Lauren Cromartie scored for Union but visiting Vermont scored three unanswered goals including a short-handed one as they defeated the Dutchwomen 3-1 on Sunday afternoon.
 
In the first period, Jeannie Sabourin's shot was off target but Cromartie scored on a put back as Vermont goaltender Kelci Lanthier misplayed the shot and Union took a 1-0 lead at 15:10. Following a hooking penalty on Rhianna Kurio, the Catamounts took advantage and scored to even the game 1-1 at 16:21.
 
Union goaltender Kate Gallagher made some big saves in the second period to keep the Dutchwomen in the game. Union would go on the power play at 14:23 following a checking penalty on Vermont's Kailey Nash. Lindsay Cashman would score the short-handed goal at 15:11 to give the Catamounts the 2-1 lead on a breakaway as the puck slid through Gallagher's pads.
 
Vermont would add a third goal in the third period when Erin Wente stole the puck from a Union defender and convert it into a goal at 9:59.
 
Gallagher made 14 saves in net for the Dutchwomen. Lanthier had 22 saves for Vermont.
 
For the second straight game, Union led in shots with a 31-17 advantage.
 
Union returns to conference play on Friday when they host Harvard at 3 pm.
