Seven game win streak ends for Dutchwomen at St. Lawrence, 67-54

Kelly Legg scored 25 points with seven rebounds to lead St. Lawrence University to a 67-54 Liberty League women's basketball victory over Union College Friday night at Burkman Gymnasium. The Saints (10-3 overall) won for the first time in three league games, while the Dutchwomen fell to 3-1 in the league and 8-4 after having their seven game winning streak snapped.

Katherine Edgerton added 12 points and Katie Murray had eight, while Erica Spera pulled down seven boards for the Saints. St. Lawrence shot 38% for the night but held Union to 28% shooting. The Dutchwomen had a 43-41 rebounding edge.

Lauren McCormick led Union with her third double double of the season. She had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow senior captain Leah Pepe led all Union players in scoring with 15 points and another senior captain, Lauren Hennessey, pulled down eight rebounds.

The Saints had a 38-21 lead at halftime. A jumper by Egerton made it a 21 point lead at 44-23 with 18:21 left in the second half. The Dutchwomen got to within 14 on a Marissa Ray jumper with 14:14 left (44-30), and Union got as close as 11 in the final minutes. Hennessey made a basket with 1:07 left to make it 65-54 Saints but two free throws by Edgerton six seconds later wrapped up the scoring.

Union plays at Clarkson Saturday at 2 p.m.
