Ramapo wins consolation game vs. Dartmouth, 96-88

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Junior forward Elgin Brown scored 24 points and sophomore guard Travis Conyers tallied 18 with six assists as #21 Ramapo College defeated UMass Dartmouth, 96-88 in the consolation game of the Sig Makofski Tournament at Union's Viniar Athletic Center Tuesday night.

Ramapo, now ranked #21 in today's D3Hoops.com national poll, improved to 10-3 while the Corsairs fell to 4-7.

Will Sanborn added 17 points and Ahmad Hassan scored 13 while Stephon Treadwell and LaQuan Peterkin each had nine rebounds for the Roadrunners. Ramapo had a 44-34 rebounding advantage and shot 56% while holding the Corsairs to 42% shooting.

Brandon Stephens led UMass Dartmouth with a game high 32 points and added three steals and three assists. Colin Burns scored 19 with seven boards and Justin Pulver had a double double with 11 points and 11 rebounds for UMass Dartmouth, which forced 18 turnovers.

Ramapo had 55 points at the half and led by seven. The Roadrunners led by nine at 64-55 with 16:57 left, but the Corsairs got within three at 69-66 with 13:22 remaining on an 11-5 run. But a 12-3 run put Ramapo up 81-69 with 8:47 left. After a three pointer by Stephens pulled UMass Boston to within five at 93-88 with 21 seconds left, Ramapo made three straight free throws to ice the victory.
