Lauren McCormick added 14 with eight rebounds as the Union women's basketball team defeated the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, 76-72 Wednesday night at the Viniar Athletic Center.

Marissa Ray added 10 points. Union, now 4-3, played for the first time since a December 14 home game vs. Utica. Union shot 44% and forced 17 turnovers.
Jen Weiner had a double double to pace the Trailblazers. She had a game high 14 rebounds with 15 pionts. Alie Dobrovolc scored 13 with seven boards and Hillary Perks dished out seven assists with 10 points. Kaitlyn Chenevert added 10 points and MCLA had a 39-37 rebounding edge for the night.
Union had a 15 point lead at halftime, 39-24. The Trailblazers pulled to within seven at 53-46 with 11:58 left on a layup by Mary Tremblay. Union added to the lead but a three by Tremblay at 8:25 made it a seven point game again at 63-56. After trailing by seven yet again, at 74-67 with 1:25 left, MCLA and Hillary Perks then made a three with 24 seconds left to get the Trailblazers to within four at 74-70, the closest since midway through the first half. But Ray made two free throws in the final 13 seconds, and a Perks layup came with two seconds left to provide the final.
The Dutchwomen will be on the road until January 28 when they host RPI. Union is at Russell Sage tomorrow night, January 6, at 6 p.m. and opens league play at Skidmore on January 11 at 6 p.m.
