Marissa Ray each scored 11 in Union's 72-43 win at The Sage Colleges Thursday night at Kahl Center. Union is now 5-3 after their last non-league game of the season, while Sage fell to 4-5.
Lauren Hennessey and
Amy Loya had seven rebounds each, and Loya also had 10 points. Ray's 11 point total was a career high, and she has 40 points in her last four games and scored 21 total in back-to-back contests including last night's home win over MCLA. Union shot 48% and had a strong rebounding showing, with 45 while the Gators had 29.
Ashleigh Nelson led the Gators with nine points while Kara Hackett had eight and Sarah Carciobolo added seven.Sage shot 30% for the night and had 19 turnovers.
Union led by six at halftime, 34-28. In the second half, the Gators trailed by four at 40-36 with 15:09 left after a Hackett layup. But a
Mary Donohue layup started a game changing 21-5 run in the next 7:03 for a 20 point lead (61-41). During that run,
Brittney Kenney had five points. Union added to the lead and led by 27 twice, at 68-41 with 6:05 left and at the buzzer.
The Dutchwomen are idle this weekend then open Liberty League play at Skidmore Tuesday, January 11 at 6 p.m.
