ROCHESTER, NY -- The Union women's volleyball team swept Bard to open the day then lost in three games to host Rochester Institute of Technology at the Liberty League Crossover Tournament.
Union downed Bard, 25-8, 25-15 and 25-16, the later lost to RIT by scores of 25-21, 25-11 and 25-20. The Dutchwomen are now 16-10 overall and 4-4 in matches against Liberty League opponents.
In the opener,
Eve Richards had eight kills and
Shannon Hughes and
Mary Foley had four each, while
Mackenzie Westfall and
Kim Armstrong each dished out 12 assists for Union. Richards had nine digs and
Kelly Sheehan added seven, as the Dutchwomen featured 14 players seeing action in the victory.
Against the Tigers, Richards finished with 10 kills and Westfall had 17 assists.
Marissa Vollmer had a match high 21 digs and Sheehan added seven digs.
Claire Kokoska had seven kills for the Dutchwomen.
Union will face Vassar Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
