Union posts first men's basketball win, 69-66 at Marymount

ARLINGTON, VA -- Keven Donohue had 25 points to tie his career high in leading Union to a 69-66 win at Marymount University Sunday. The Saints fall to 2-3 on the season while the Dutchmen improved to 1-1.

Donohue also had seven rebounds and five assists, both team-highs.  Keith Callies added 16 points while Evan Croll and Joe Mason each chipped in 12.

Reed Scott led the Saints with 22 points to go with 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.  Garrett Snoops added 12 points off the bench.

Trailing by as many as 11 points six minutes into the second half, Marymount pulled within one at 46-45 courtesy of a 12-2 run over the next four minutes.  The Saints would take their first lead at the 7:50 mark on a jumper by Scott in the high post to make it 51-50.

Both squads would trade the lead or force a tie eight times down the stretch including knotting things up at 63-63 with 1:15 remaining on a Scott tip-in.  Union (1-1) would ride the hot hand of Donohue the rest of the way, taking the lead for good on a three-pointer on the ensuing possession and holding the Saints at bay on the free throw line in the waning seconds.

Marymount shot a solid 54.2 percent from the floor, including a stellar 66.7% in the second half, but was outdone by Union's 59.1% shooting and 56.3% clip from three-point range.

Union plays at SUNYIT Wednesday.
