UTICA, NY -- Rachel Beaulac recorded her first career double double with a career high 13 rebounds and 11 points as the Union women's basketball team defeated Utica College, 63-39 at the Clark Athletic Center Tuesday night. Union improved to 4-3 while the Pioneers fell to 5-4.
Beaulac made five of eight shots and 10 of her 13 rebounds were on the defensive side.
Shayla Madden had a team high 13 points and
Brittney Kenney had six rebounds for the Dutchwomen.
Mary Donohue had a game best nine assists in the victory.
Meghan Fiore led all scorers with 15 points for the Pioneers and Katie McGee had 10 rebounds. Union shot 44% and held Utica to 26% shooting. The Dutchwomen had a 44-39 rebounding advantage.
Union held a 25-14 lead at halftime and went on a big run after leading 36-24 with 13:53 left in the second half. Union outscored Utica, 25-6 over the next 9:15 after a three pointer by
Kelsey McDonald made it 61-30 with 4:38 left.
Union is idle over the holiday break and will return home on January 4 to host The Sage Colleges at 7 p.m. at the Viniar Athletic Center.
