SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Senior attacks
Kristin Joyce and
Chelsea Charette both scored three goals to lead the Union College women's lacrosse team to a 12-6 victory over Rochester (2-9, 1-4 Liberty League) on Saturday, April 16, at Frank Bailey Field. With the win, the Dutchwomen (8-4, 6-1 Liberty League) clinched a berth in the Liberty League playoffs.
Union scored three goals before the game was five minutes old, and didn't let up until there were 10 minutes left in the first half, at which point the Dutchwomen led 8-1. Sophomore midfielder Liza Maizel potted a goal for Rochester at the 6:17 mark to make the score 8-2 at halftime.
The teams traded goals throughout the second half, starting with Union senior midfielder
Melissa Hine scoring to give the home team a 9-2 lead. Hine had four assists along with a pair of goals on the afternoon. Junior attack Niki Holmes netted each of Rochester's last three goals. Holmes was the high scorer for the Yellowjackets, finishing with four points, including an assist.

Alexis Deeb earned her eighth win of the season after making four saves for Union. Sophomore Frances Cooley had five stops in the loss for Rochester.
Union is next in action on Thursday, April 21, in a 4:30 p.m. game at Cortland. Rochester is at Hamilton on Saturday, April 23, for a 2 p.m. contest.
