MADISON, NJ -- Aileen Musynske scored four goals and assisted on another and Drew University outscored Union College, 6-2 in the second half en route to a 12-7 non-league women's lacrosse victory Tuesday night. The Rangers stand 9-7 on the season and the Dutchwomen are now 9-6.
Stacie Brown scored three times and Sloane Coles and Cara Jeffries had two tallies each for the hosts. Liz Swigert made seven saves in the Drew net. Brook Connell also scored for Drew, which won despite being outshot 33-16 for the game. Union had a 14-11 ground ball advantage and each team had 10 turnovers.
Kristin Joyce scored four goals for Union while
Chelsea Charette had three scores to produce the goals on the board for Union.
Joyce opened the scoring with 24:56 left but Drew made it 2-1 after goals by Brown, and Jeffries' score with 22:28 left. Just under a minute later Charette tied it at 2-2 and after Brown regained the home lead at 18:36, Joyce knotted it again at 3-3 with 16:15 left. Coles scored at 15:08 and Charette hit the back of the net with 13:34 left fora 4-4 game. But Musnynske and Connell gave the hosts a two game lead at 6-4 before Joyce scored with just 4:34 left in the half for a 6-5 Drew lead at halftime.
The Rangers came out hot with four straight goals for a 10-5 lead with 14:59 to play, featuring two by Musynske wrapped around goals by Jeffries and Brown. Charette (9:03) and Joyce (8:34) made it cloe at 10-7 but Musynske at 2:16 and Coles, with 49 seconds left, wrapped up the 11-7 win.
Union ends the regular season at home against Hamilton for Senior Day Saturday at 2 p.m.
