TROY, N.Y.

Union took control early and capitalized in the 8th minute as freshman forward Mollie Gilchrist scored into an empty Simmons net.  Junior forward Jennifer Mansfield started the play as she carried the ball down the right flank and fired a shot that careened off the left post.

In the second half, the Sharks pushed their way into the offensive zone and saw their best chance of the game come in the 67th minute as sophomore Kristyn Heuslein fired a shot from the right side from 20-yards out.  Despite the angle, Union keeper Mia Simone made the save near the post.

Rookie Whitney Bickford sealed the victory for the Dutchwomen in the 82nd minute as she headed the ball in past Wheeler off a corner kick from Mansfield for the 3-0 margin.
