SCHENECTADY, NY
– The Dutchwomen take down Utica College 3-0, after falling to SUNY Cortland 0-3.  The squad leaves the Union Invitational with a record of 3-1, putting their total record at 8-4 on the year.  Cortland topped Union with scores of 25-12, 25-11 and 25-21, while Utica fell in three sets with scores of 25-10, 25-7 and 25-9.  Union ended the tournament in third place.

In the first match against Cortland, senior Eve Richards led the team with 10 kills.  At the conclusion of the tournament, Richards was named to the Union Invitational All-Tournament Team.  Sophomore Mackenzie Westfall had 24 assists and tallied seven digs.  Sophomore Casey Tepper seven kills, while sophomore Marissa Vollmer led the team with eight digs.

The Dutchwomen dominated the second match of the day, sweeping Utica in less than an hour.  Junior Kim Armstrong led the team with 20 assists and four aces.  The winning point of the second set came off of Armstrong's serve.  At one point in the first set, Union had a 21-8 lead.  Richards tallied nine kills and six digs, while junior Nora Wood had five kills.  Wood had an ace in the first set, as did Tepper on the winning point.  Senior Mary Foley recorded seven kills; including a sneak attack that gave Union the 24-8 lead in the first set.  Utica could not seem to function while freshman Shannon Hughes served, as Union scored points 13 to 21 in the second set.  Hughes also served on the final seven points in the third match.
