SCHENECTADY, NY -- Emily Jablonski scored two goals and Williams College jumped out to a 3-1 halftime lead en route to a 5-2 non league field hockey win at Union College Tuesday night at Frank Bailey Field. The Ephs evened their season record at 2-2 while the Dutchwomen fell to 0-4.
Williams outshot the hosts, 32-14, and had a 14-8 advantage in corners. Union goaltenders Corey Hedges ad Mary McCune each played a half, with Hedges stopping four and McCune making nine saves. Ariana Spiliotes made four saves in the Williams goal.
Sara Thompson, Casey Greene and Caitlin Conlon scored the other goals for the guests, while Isabel Zellweger and Ali Flake scored for Union.
Conlon had a turnaround shot at 6:02 for the first goal, but Zellweger tied it with her second of the year with a pass from Flake just 1:15 later. Jablonski scored the next two, giving her three on the season. At 10:25 she shot low to the goalie's right for a 2-1 lead, and at 20:20 she fired it in from seven yards out on a tight right angle. Greene's penalty stroke goal at 41:32 made it 4-1.
In the second half, Thompson tipped in a Katie Ellis drive at 56:50 and Flake notched her first of the year at 65:36 for Union, converting through traffic close in front.
Union opens Liberty League play Friday at Vassar and is at RPI Saturday.
