GENEVA, N.Y.— Junior forward Keven Donohue had 14 points for Union, but Hobart's Greg Stern broke the school record for 3-pointers made in a game with 11 tonight, accounting for all 33 of his career-high scoring effort and leading the Statesmen to an 83-61 Liberty League victory over the Dutchmen.

Donohue led Union in scoring, while Cal Shorey and Joe Mason added 11 and 10 points, respectively. As a team, Union (7-4, 0-3) outshot Hobart 57.8 percent to 51.7 percent, but the Dutchmen were undone by turnovers (20 to Hobart's 7) and an inability to get to the free throw line (the Statesmen made 10 freebies to the Dutchmen's 5).
 
Hobart (8-2, 1-0) fell behind 11-0, but Stern came off the bench tonight and made his first six 3-point tries as the Statesmen rallied to take a 37-31 lead into halftime.
 
Hobart used an 11-0 run midway through the second half to build a comfortable 19-point lead. Stern tied the record with 5 minutes remaining in the game and swished the record-breaker with 2:36 to go.
 
The previous record was 10 set by Andrew D'Eloia against Rochester on Feb. 14, 1995.
 
Senior Matt Pebole and junior Stefan Thompson joined Stern in double digits with 10 points apiece. Sophomore Richie Bonnie led the Statesmen to a 29-23 rebounding edge with a game-high seven boards.
 
Hobart will be back in action at 8 p.m. on Fri., Jan. 13, when the Statesmen host Clarkson. Union will be back on the court at the same time at Rensselaer.
