Marissa Peck had 12 points and
Kate Thompson added 10 to lead the Union women's basketball team to a 62-10 victory over Liberty League newcomer Bard Saturday the Viniar Athletic Center. The Dutchwomen improved to 2-3 in the league and 6-7 overall, while the Raptors are now 0-3 in league play and 1-11 for the season.
The opponent point total of 10 broke the school record for the lowest points allowed in a game. Union defeated New Paltz at home, 77-22, on February 2, 1979.
Peck made all six of her shots and blocked three shots, while Union recorded 11 blocks and 13 steals in the victory. All 14 players who dressed saw action and 12 scored, with 12 players seeing double digit minutes. The Dutchwomen shot 43% for the game and had a 50-26 rebounding advantage, including 20-8 on the offensive boards. Union forced 24 turnovers and held Bard to 12% shooting for the game.
Union led 33-4 at halftime and held Bard to 10% shooting in the first 20 minutes. Victoria Fleisher led the Raptors with four points and Imani Jones had five rebounds.
Amy Loya had a game high five assists for Union, and Carolyn Niedzeiecki had points,
Brittney Kenney scored six and
Meghan Erdman also added six for Union.
Shayla Madden had six rebounds.
The Dutchwomen are on the road next weekend with games at Clarkson Friday and at St. Lawrence Saturday.
