Saints down Dutchmen, 69-54




SCHENECTADY, NY -- Ralph Temgoua scored 18 points and three other players also scored in double figures in a 69-54 St. Lawrence men's basketball win at Union in the Liberty League opener Friday night at the Viniar Athletic Center. The win snapped Union's seven game winning streak, and the Dutchmen fell to 7-2 while the Saints now stand 4-4.

It was Union's first loss since November 22 vs. Hartwick, the season opener.

Brady Condlin and Kyle Miller each scored 14 points and Brandon Rivera tallied 11 for the Saints, sho shot 54% in the second half and 53% for the night. They also had a 36-31 edge on the boards, including 24 on the defensive end.

Union only had seven turnovers, the third straight games under 10 turnovers for the Dutchmen, who shot 40%. Rusmir Dzanko scored 18 points and Keven Donohue tallied 12 and Matt Petrone led the squad with six rebounds. Joe Mason dished out a game best seven assists.

The Saints had a 33-32 lead at the half, and the Dutchmen got a layup by Dzanko with 18:19 left in the second half to be within two at 36-34. But the guests went on a run of 20-6 in a span of 10:22 for a 56-40 lead. The largest lead was 17 with 55 seconds left to play.

Union will look to bounce back Saturday when the Dutchmen host Vassar at 2 p.m.
