Daniel Carr added their first goals of the season as No. 9/10 Union men's ice hockey (2-1-0) earned a 4-1 win over Bowling Green (0-2-1) in front of 2,242 fans at BGSU Ice Arena.

Troy Grosenick stopped 21 of 22 shots to earn the win in net, as Union scored twice on the power play on another solid night of special teams play.
The Dutchmen got off to a fast start for the first time in three games this season, taking an early 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the contest.
Sophomore forward
Max Novak won an offensive zone faceoff back to Gostisbehere, who fired a low shot through traffic past Bowling Green goaltender Andrew Hammond (26 saves) at 2:54.
The Dutchmen nearly made it 2-0 on their first power play opportunity of the game, keeping the puck in the Bowling Green zone for almost the entirety of the man advantage. Junior defenseman
Mat Bodie fired a shot off the post at the 8:00 mark, and Bowling Green was able to kill off the power play.
Union would add to its lead in the waning moments of the period, as senior forward
Wayne Simpson notched his first goal of the season with an impressive individual effort. Simpson took a pass from junior forward
Matt Hatch up the left wing boards and cut sharply to the middle of the ice, causing a Bowling Green defender to loose his balance.
Simpson fired a wrist shot over the shoulder of Hammond to give the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead at 18:56. The goal was Simpson's 10
th career game-winning goal, tying Scott Seney's '06 school record in the Division I era.
Gostisbehere added his second goal of the night early in the second period, with Union on a 5-on-3 power play. With Bowling Green's Connor Kucera in the penalty box, Dan DeSalvo was called for interference at 1:15. On the opening faceoff of the man advantage, Union went to work. Senior forward

Mat Bodie, who quickly passed back to Gostisbehere.
Gostisbehere's slapshot from the circle beat Hammond high at 1:22, just seven seconds into the man advantage, giving the sophomore his first career two-goal game.
Early in the third period, Carr notched his first goal of the season on the power play, tipping a pass from sophomore forward
Max Novak out of the air and past Hammond from the slot at 7:37. Carr's goal was his 23
rd career power play tally, matching Jordan Webb '05 for the school record.
Bowling Green's Dajon Mingo scored a power play goal at 9:22, but the Falcons were held in check the rest of the way.
Union will have next weekend off before taking on American International College in a road contest on Oct. 26 at 7:05 p.m.
