Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Volleyball edged by RIT and St. Lawrence



CANTON, NY - The Dutchwomen traveled up to St. Lawrence to take on RIT in a neutral match and the host Saints but did not come away with a win in Canton, N.Y. on Friday night.
 
In the first match against RIT, the Dutchwomen were edged out in the first set 23-25. The other two sets also went in the Tigers favor as RIT won those sets 25-17 and 25-16 respectively.
 
Marissa Vollmer led Union with 18 digs and a service ace in the match. Mackenzie Westfall paced the passing game with 14 assists while Rachel Wyman tallied eight kills against the Tigers. Rajpreet Dhaliwal also pitched in with five kills and two block assists in the loss.
 
Sara Martin led all players with 14 kills in the match while Suzanne Jokatys aided the attack with 10 kills of her own. Defensively, Katie Cooper and Bethany Davis each had 13 digs. The offense was orchestrated by Christina Worth who had a game-high 35 assists while pitching in on defense with 11 digs.
 
Against St. Lawrence, the Dutchwomen were able to take the first set 25-21. However, the Saints squeaked out two close sets 25-21 and 25-22 and then taking the fourth set 25-16.

Kelley White broke her career-high in kills with 17 to lead the Dutchwomen offense while Vollmer had 21 digs in the match. Westfall continued to work the offense with 30 assists.

Alexis Brown led all players in the match with 22 kills in the four-set win. Defensively, Katie Prue, Jenna Street and Mariah Dignan were all in double-digits in digs with 14, 12 and 11 respectively. Anna Kassab and Street powered the Saints attack with a combined 51 assists.
 
The Dutchwomen will be looking to rebound tomorrow as Union will travel to Potsdam, N.Y. to take on Clarkson University at 11 a.m.
