POTSDAM, NY - The Dutchwomen faced a difficult squad in the second place Golden Knights as Union was defeated in three (17-25, 16-25, 20-25) to Clarkson University Saturday afternoon.
Clarkson continued to hit at a high level striking at a .345 hitting percentage with 47 kills and just nine errors while the Dutchwomen had a .146 hitting percentage and 11 errors.
Freshman Aishvina Arasu had 16 kills and two errors in 32 attempts and tacked on 12 digs. Victoria Kirkemo nearly matched Arasu, hitting 13 kills with two errors in 33 attempts, while also producing 12 digs. Kirstie Shurie had 33 assists and 12 digs as wel, and Lauren Hutchinson added to the Clarkson offense with nine kills. Erika Chin led the defense with 17 digs.
Nora Wood and
Kelley White spearheaded the Union attack each with seven kills. The duo also had six and seven digs respectively in the loss.
Kim Armstrong paced the passing game with 18 assists and pitched in seven digs.
Marissa Vollmer tallied 17 digs, which led all Dutchwomen in the defensive category.
Union will be looking to rebound as they will participate in their last invitational of the season at Skidmore next week on October 26 and 27.
