ONEONTA, NY -- Senior tri-captain
Keven Donohue joined the 1,000 career point club in Union College men's basketball history and helped lead the Dutchmen to a season opening victory, 62-54 over Hartwick College at Lambros Areana Tuesday night. The Hawks fell to 1-2 on the young season.
Donohue became the 18th player in program history to achieve the honor, and the first since Joey Lokitis '10 accomplished the feat in his 2009-10 senior season. Donohue finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, with seven of his boards on the defensive end.
Union was led by senior tri-captain guard
Joe Mason, who had 16 points and seven boards.

Hatwick was led by Jared Suderley, who accounted for nearly half of his team's point total with 25. Suderley was 10 of 18 from the floor and had nine rebounds. Kyle Bradley also pulled down nine boards and scored nine points.
Union shot 46% for the night, including 52% in the second half, and held the Hawks to 34% shooting including 17% from three point territory (five for 29). Hartwick had a slim rebounding edge (38 to 34), and Union's largest lead was 10 with 6:16 remaining in the contest.
The Dutchmen continue a busy opening week when they compete in the Hamilton Thanksgiving Tournament Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday Union faces the host and former Liberty League rival Hamilton at 7 p.m., and will play either NYU or Utica in the consolation (1 p.m.) or championship (3 p.m.) Sunday.
