BENNINGTON, VT -- Senior guard Joe Mason scored 14 points and fellow co-captain and senior forward Keven Donohue added 12 with a game high eight rebounds to lead the Union College men's basketball team to an 86-60 non-league win at Southern Vermont Thursday night. The Dutchmen improved to 5-1 on the season.

Cal Shorey had seven points and seven rebounds and Brian DeBisschop also pulled down seven boards in the victory. Evan Croll added 11 points and four rebounds for Union, which shot 49% for the night and made 81% at the free throw line. The Dutchmen also had a big 45-29 rebounding edge over the Mountaineers. Mason made six of his13 shots and Donohue was six for 10. Matt Petrone made all four free throws and Union played 13 players, while 10 played 10 or more minutes each with the large lead.

Taeshon Johnson led the hosts with 18 points and six rebounds and Jermaine Campbell had 16 points and pulled down seven off the boards. Southern Vermont shot 39% for the game and had 15 turnovers.

Union had a 40-29 lead at halftime.

Union opens Liberty League play this Saturday, playing at RIT at 4 p.m.
