Kelly Zajac scored at 17:28 of the third period to help No. 11/12 Union men's hockey (16-6-7, 10-3-4 ECAC Hockey) earn a 4-4 tie against No. 14/14 Cornell (11-6-6, 8-3-5 ECAC Hockey) in front of 2,507 fans at Messa Rink.
Zajac had a goal and two assists on the night and freshman defenseman
Shayne Gostisbehere notched four assists to lead the Dutchmen, who rallied to tie after trailing 4-2 late in the second period.

Colin Stevens stopped 19 shots, while Cornell's Andy Iles made 24 saves in net for the Big Red.
Cornell jumped out to an early lead in the contest, as Sean Collins fired a wrist shot off the glove of Stevens that trickled over the goal line at 3:26 of the first period.
Union answered with two power play goals on their first two opportunities of the game, both in the first period. With Brian Ferlin in the penalty box for tripping, junior forward
Wayne Simpson beat Iles from the slot at 12:13 to tie the game.

Kelly Zajac picked up an assist on the play, giving him the school's all-time assists record in the Division I era, and extending his point streak to 11 games.

Kyle Bodie gave Union the lead on their next power play opportunity, this time with Dustin Mowrey in the penalty box for hooking. Zajac set up Bodie with a diagonal pass from the high slot, and Bodie found the wide open net for a stuff-in goal at 16:57 to put Union up 2-1.
Union finished the contest 2-for-3 on the man advantage, while holding Cornell scoreless on one power play chance.
Cornell scored three consecutive goals in the second period to take control of the contest. Ferlin got things going for the Big Red, scoring from five feet at 5:48 to tie the game.
At 13:01, Cornell's Greg Miller scored on a rebound off the back boards, beating Stevens at the near post to give the Big Red a 3-2 lead.
Just over a minute later, Cornell grabbed a two-goal advantage at 14:41, as Mathieu Brisson beat Stevens on a wrist shot through traffic from just inside the blue line.
After short delay to repair the ice surface, Union's
Sam Coatta deflected a Gostisbehere shot from the point past Iles at 15:34 to cut Cornell's lead to 4-3 heading into the third period.
With Cornell sitting back in the defensive zone to protect its lead, Union did not generate much offense until late in the third period, when the Dutchmen caught Iles out of position.
Gostisbehere started the play with a shot on net the Iles stopped. With Iles prone on the ice, Simpson corralled the rebound behind the Cornell net and fed Zajac, who found an open net from a wide angle to tie the game at 4-4.
Union will travel to Dartmouth for a Friday night contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
