ORLANDO, FL -- Emily Jablonski scored four goals to lead Williams College to a 12-11 women's lacrosse victory over Union College Wednesday.
The Dutchwomen fell to 0-3 and continue play in Florida on Saturday when they face Buffalo State at 10 a.m.
Sam Weinstein scored three goals and Kaitlin Ellis and Rebecca McGovern had two each for the Ephs, who got a single goal from Lilly Wellenbach.
Union was led by freshman attack Emily McGrail, who scored three goals.
Heather Fraser and
Hilary Salander scored twice each. The Dutchwomen got single goals by
Brittany Fraser, Haley Gould, Annie Nelson and
Tory Cameron.
Williams outshot Union, 26-20, while the Dutchwomen had a 21-13 ground ball advantage. Williams convered eight of 10 clears and Union was four for six in clear attempts. Ali Piltch made seven saves for the Ephs while freshman Allison Burtowicz stopped four for Union.
Union had leads of 4-2 (with 18:05 left in the first half) and 7-3 (with 4:35 remaining in the half after a Gould goal). But the Ephs scored three goals in the final 4:06 to cut the lead to 7-6 Union by halftime.
It was 10-8 Union after goals by Salander at 22:24 and Nelson at 21:21, but Weinstein scored at 17:27 and Ellis tied it (15:18) then gave the Eps the lead at 8:48 at 11-10. McGrail knotted it up for Union before Weinstein scored the eventual game winner with 6:26 left in regulation.
