NCAA Tournament Bracket
SCHENECTADY, NY - No. 14 Union (12-4, 5-1 Liberty League) hosts No. 11 Bowdoin (14-5, 6-4 NESCAC) in the second round of the Division III NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Union is 1-3 in the all-time series against Bowdoin, with its sole victory against the Polar Bears coming on March 26, 1985, a 9-7 win at Bowdoin. The two teams last met on March 23, 2005 in Orlando, FL, with Bowdoin earning a 15-6 victory.
» Dutchmen Defeat Montclair St. In First-Ever NCAA Home Game
On Wednesday, sophomore attack Nate Greenberg had three goals and Ted McKenna, Jack Farrell and Jonathan Andrews each scored twice to lead Union to a 12-5 win over Montclair State in the opening round of the Division III NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament at Frank Bailey Field. Union, which led 2-1 after one quarter of play, ran off nine unanswered goals in the second and third quarters to put the game out of reach. With the win, the Dutchmen improved to 2-1 all-time in NCAA Tournament play.
» Union Earns Second NCAA Bid
One of 10 at-large selections for the Division III NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament, the Union College Dutchmen earned their second straight NCAA bid in the 32-year history of the tournament when the field of 28 was announced on May 6. Former Union head coach Bruce Allison (1966-1976), a recent Hall-of-Fame inductee, was instrumental in the creation of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Union has recorded double-digit wins for the fourth time in Coach Wehrum's six years at Union.
» Sean Aaron Among The Nation's Best in Net
Senior goalie Sean Aaron, a two-time USILA All-American, is in the midst of another stellar campaign in net for the Dutchmen. Aaron is 12-4 with a 6.46 goals-against average and .651 save percentage, and is among the nation's best in both statistical categories. He has started all 16 games in net for Union.
» Aaron Named Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year
Senior goalie Sean Aaron has been named the 2012 Liberty League Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year. Aaron, a two-time All-American in net, earned the award for the second consecutive season. He was one of eight Union student-athletes named to the Liberty League All-Star teams announced May 2. Sophomore attack Rob Santangelo (1st Team), senior defenseman Matt Livingston (1st Team), senior attack Ted McKenna (2nd Team), senior midfielder Ethan Meyer (2nd Team), senior midfielder Jon Stidd (2nd Team) senior midfielder Alex Stone (honorable mention) and senior defenseman Robert Sullivan (honorable mention) were all honored with awards.

Bowdoin earned an at-large selection to the tournament after placing third in the NESCAC regular season standings and advancing to the conference title match where they lost a double-overtime decision to Tufts. Defenseman Matt Egan (50 ground balls, 32 caused turnovers) and midfielder Mark Flibotte (29 goals, eight assists) were First-Team NESCAC selections, while goaltender Christopher Williamson was named as a Second Team selection. Williamson has a .635 save percentage and has backlined a defense that has allowed just 7.31 goals/game this year.

Junior midfielder Alex Stone has emerged as Union's top faceoff man this season. Stone is 87-for-134 (.649) on faceoffs this season, which puts him among the nation's best in faceoff winning percentage. Stone has won the faceoff battle in 12 of 14 games this season in which he has had faceoff responsibilities.

Union has closed strong in the majority of its 16 contests this season, outscoring competition 94-54 in the second half of games this season. In five of Union's wins this season, the Dutchmen were tied or trailed at halftime.

Union has proven to be one of the best defensive teams in the nation so far this season, allowing just 6.12 goals/game. The Dutchmen, who led the Liberty League in scoring defense through the regular season are led by senior defenseman Matt Livingston who is second on the team with 44 ground balls and first with 32 caused turnovers and senior defenseman Robert Sullivan (21 ground balls, nine caused turnovers).
