NCAA Tournament Bracket
SCHENECTADY, NY - No. 14 Union (13-4, 5-1 Liberty League) will take on No. 2 SUNY Cortland (19-0, 6-0 SUNYAC) in the quarterfinals of the Division III NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. Union is 4-13 in the all-time series against Cortland, with its last victory coming on May 17, 1966 at Union. The two teams met this season on March 3 at Cortland, with the Red Dragons earning a 6-4 win. Union is 3-3 on the season againsr ranked teams.

Sean Aaron stopped 15 shots and led the Dutchmen with four ground balls.
Matt Livingston recorded a game-high five caused turnovers. Cortland's Greg Wright and Cody Consul each scored a pair of goals to lead Cortland. Union trailed 3-2 in the fourth quarter, but Cortland opened the final frame with three straight goals to pull away.

Union head coach
Paul Wehrum was a three-time All-American as a player at SUNY Cortland, where he graduated in 1972. Wehrum was also assistant coach to the Red Dragons' 1973 Division III NCAA Championship team while pursuing his masters degree.

One of 10 at-large selections for the Division III NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament, the Union College Dutchmen earned their second straight NCAA bid in the 32-year history of the tournament when the field of 28 was announced on May 6. Former Union head coach Bruce Allison (1966-1976), a recent National Lacrosse Hall-of-Fame inductee, was instrumental in the creation of the NCAA Men's Lacrosse Tournament. Union has recorded double-digit wins for the fourth time in Coach Wehrum's six years at Union.

Senior goalie
Sean Aaron, a two-time USILA All-American, is in the midst of another stellar campaign in net for the Dutchmen. Aaron is 13-4 with a 6.32 goals-against average (13th NCAA) and .651 save percentage (4th NCAA), and is among the nation's best in both statistical categories. He has started all 17 games in net for Union.

Sean Aaron has been named the 2012 Liberty League Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Year. Aaron, a two-time All-American in net, earned the award for the second consecutive season. Junior midfielder Alex Stone has emerged as Union's top faceoff man this season. Stone is 95-for-145 (.655) on faceoffs this season and is ranked nationally (16th NCAA) in faceoff winning percentage. Stone has won the faceoff battle in 13 of 15 games this season in which he has had faceoff responsibilities.

Union has closed strong in the majority of its 17 contests this season, outscoring competition 100-56 in the second half of games this season. In five of Union's wins this season, the Dutchmen were tied or trailed at halftime.

Union has proven to be one of the best defensive teams in the nation so far this season, allowing just 6.00 goals/game. (9th NCAA) The Dutchmen, who led the Liberty League in scoring defense through the regular season are led by senior defenseman Matt Livingston who is second on the team with 46 ground balls and first with 33 caused turnovers and senior defenseman Robert Sullivan (21 ground balls, nine caused turnovers).
