Oneonta, NY – Union women's volleyball started the season with wins against SUNY IT and SUNY Potsdam in the first day at the SUNY Oneonta Invitational Friday evening.
Union's first match was against SUNY IT in which the Dutchwomen defeated the wildcats in straight sets, 25-16, 25-21 and 25-14.
Casey Tepper led the way with 12 kills for Union.
Rachel Wyman also contributed with six kills of her own along with five service aces.
Mackenzie Westfall and
Kim Armstrong assisted the Dutchwomen offense with 15 assists for the each of them.
The following match against SUNY Potsdam, the Dutchwomen defeated the Bears 3-1. Union was defeated in the first match but then strung together three wins to overcome the Bears.
Nora Wood and
Lauren Woods led the team in kills with 11 and block assists with five. Westfall continued to feed the Dutchwomen attack with 25 assists while
Marissa Vollmer contributed with a team-high 31 digs.
The Dutchwomen will be in action tomorrow agagainst St. Scholastica in Oneonta, N.Y. at 9:30 a.m.
