ALBANY, NY – The Union College women's basketball team traveled to The Sage Colleges on Tuesday night in Kahl Gym in a non-conference contest. The Dutchwomen snapped a two-game losing skid as they posted a 58-41 win and improve to 9-5 on the season, while the loss puts Sage at 6-7.
Union's team used a run in the mid-point of the first half to take a 17-16 lead and never looked back as they took a 28-20 lead into the locker room. Sophomore forward
Kate Thompson finished with 11 points for Union, including seven in the first half. Junior guard
Amy Loya and Thompson each finished with a team-high eight caroms for Union as they held a 44-31 edge on the boards.
Sage's sophomore guard Megan Bowman finished with a game-high 13 points, while junior Chelsea Martin added eight points. Sophomore center Amie Jefferson had 11 rebounds, including 10 defensive board for the Gators, while making three blocks in the action. Martin added a pair as well, while Union's Thompson also had a pair.
Union returns to action on January 18 travelling to Bard College for a 6 p.m. Liberty League contest.
