SCHENECTADY, NY -- Sophomore forward Kate Thompson scored a game high 19 points and senior guard Shayla Madden scored 16 to lead the Union College women's basketball team to a 63-42 Liberty League victory over Clarkson University Friday night at the Viniar Athletic Center. The Dutchwomen, winners of six straight, are now 3-0 in league play and 7-3 overall. The Golden Knights fell to 2-7 overall and 0-1 after their league opener.

Thompson also had a team high eight rebounds and Madden dished out four assists. Kelsey McDonald had a game best six assists for the Dutchwomen, who shot 47% and forced 19 turnovers. McDonald also had five boards and three steals and Union held the visitors to 27% shooting from the floor.

Clarkson was led by Ashley Loggins, who led all players with 25 points and 14 rebounds for the double double. She nearly pulled off the triple with seven steals and made nine of 12 shots from the line. The Golden Knights got six points from Melissa Bogart and Taylor Gidden pulled down six rebounds. Clarkson outrebounded the Dutchwomen, 36-35.

Union took a 20 point lead to the half, 33-13. The Dutchwomen led by as many as 23 at 41-18 just 4:48 into the second half and matched that largest lead at 61-38 with 2:37 to play.

The Dutchwomen return home Saturday at 2 p.m. to face Bard.
