SCHENECTADY, NY - The Union College women's ice hockey team welcomes the Northeastern Huskies and Boston University Terriers to the confines of Messa Rink on  Friday Oct. 11 and Saturday Oct. 12 during the Union Homecoming festivities in Schenectady, NY. 

This will be the sixth meeting between the Dutchwomen and the Huskies. The Dutchwomen trail the all-time series 5-0. Saturday's matchup will mark the ninth time the Dutchwomen and Terriers meet. Union is 0-9 all-time against Boston University.

Last Time Out
Last weekend the Dutchwomen hosted Providence for a two-game series in Schenectady, NY.  Union captured the game one victory 5-2 after two-goal performances by sophomore Courtney Turner and junior Christine Valente. Despite a strong effort on Friday evening, the Dutchwomen couldn't roll the momentum into Saturday, falling 6-2 to the Friars.
  • After a scoreless first period in game on, the Friars took the lead early in the second period but the Dutchwomen fired back on the first of two power play goals of the game. Valente tallied the goal while junior Alex Tancrell-Fontaine and senior captain Ashley Johnston registered assists.
  • The Dutchwomen tallied the next three goals to capture a 4-1 lead midway through the third period. During the stretch, Valente picked up her second goal of the game, Turner picked up her first goal of the contest and Johnston tallied her first goal of the season on a power play blast from the point. Senior Stefanie Thomson and Tancrell-Fontaine picked up two assists on the three goals while juniors Kelly McGrath and  Bryanne Panchuk picked up assists on Turner's tally.
  • Despite pulling within two goals with under five minutes remaining, the Friars couldn't come any closer to a comeback as Turner added her second goal of the game on an empty netter.
  • Junior goaltender Shenae Lundberg stood strong between the pipes for the Dutchwomen after stopping 22 of the 24 shots she faced. 
  • On Saturday the Dutchwomen fell into a 2-0 hole late in the first period that they couldn't fight back from despite goals from freshman Kathryn Davis, her first career tally and sophomore Kathryn Tomaselli. Turner added assists on both goals to complete her four point weekend. Senior captain Maddy Norton and sophomore Jessica Kaminsky also registered assists on the two Union goals.
Last Time vs. the Huskies
The Dutchwomen fell to the Huskies 4-1 on Oct. 12, 2012 at the Matthews Arena in Boston. 
  • The Dutchwomen got out to the lead when then senior Emma Rambo put away her own rebound with 2:07 left in the first period.
  • The Huskies scored a power play goal in the second period to deadlock the game at one heading into the third period.
  • Northeastern tallied three times in the third period to take the lead and the game.
  • Then senior Alana Marcinko made 41 saves on 45 shots.
Last Time vs. the Terriers
The Dutchwomen tallied two power play goals but fell to the Terriers 6-2 at Walter Brown Arena on Oct. 13, 2012.
  • Union held Boston U to a 1-0 lead after the first period but a four-goal second period for the Terriers gave them command of the contest. 
  • Then freshman Kathryn Tomaselli and Jessica Kaminsky each tallied power play goals.
  • Then senior Alana Marcinko (14 saves) and then freshman Madeleine Dahl (11 saves) split time in the net for the Dutchwomen.
  • The Dutchwomen went 2-7 on the power play. 
  • Then senior Rhianna Kurio led the Dutchwomen in faceoffs with 12 wins.
