Union Earns 3-1 Win Over Hartwick

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College remained unbeaten at home this season, using three second-half goals to down Hartwick, 3-1, in non-conference action under the lights at College Park Field.  Coach Brian Speck's squad is now 6-0 on home turf.

The Dutchwomen overcame a 1-0 halftime deficit by matching their highest offensive output of the season for the second time this week.  On Monday, UC defeated Castleton State, by an identical 3-1 margin.

Despit being outshot, 10-4, in the first half, Hartwick (5-4-3) jumped to an early lead.  Kylie Thayer's corner kick in the 49th minute found Nicolette Wilson in the box, who headed a shot into the upper corner of the net.

Mollie Gilchrist sparked Union's comeback at the 53:40 mark, accepting a long pass from Kelsey Fish (that originated from just inside mid-field) and placing a low shot past goalkeeper Hope Brown.  Brown kept the game close with 10 saves, many from point blank. Whitney Bickford launched a game-high seven shots, including four on net as Union finished with 18 total shots in the contest.

Emily Hamilton provided the game-winning goal in the 68th minute when she turned inside the box and buried a diagonal feed from Jenna Cornwall.  Senior Melissa Scinto provided an insurance goal at 78:46 off a direct kick that found its way through the Hawks' defense.

Union (8-4-0) continues its homestand this Saturday, hosting Elmira at 2 p.m.
