Union blanks RIT on Senior Day

SCHENECTADY, NY – The Union College women's volleyball team completed the weekend sweep of Liberty League foes by blanking Rochester Institute of Technology 3-0 on Saturday afternoon at the Viniar Athletic Center. With the win, the Dutchwomen improve to 18-7 and 7-2 in Liberty League play.

The Dutchwomen continued their dominance this weekend by not allowing RIT to earn above 20 points in any of the three sets. Union defeated the Tigers in straight sets, 25-16, 25-19 and 25-11.

Sophomores Rachel Wyman and Lauren Woods led the Dutchwomen attack with 12 and six kills respectively. Senior Marisa Vollmer led the Dutchwomen defensively, recording 14 digs over the three sets. Freshman Ally VanDoren was deadly with the serve as she racked up three service aces. Fellow freshman Amanda Price continued to dish out the assists, registering 16 on the day.

The Dutchwomen remain undefeated at home, improving their record to 8-0 at the Viniar Athletic Center. The Dutchwomen are slated to play in three more Liberty League matches before the conference championship tournament begins on November 8.

Three members of the Union squad were honored before the start of today's matches. Seniors Marissa Vollmer, Kelly Sheehan and Mackenzie Westfall were congratulated by head coach Melissa DeRan for their accomplishments during their Union careers.

Union will return to action next Friday when they travel to RIT for a rematch at 5pm.
