Logan, Chevalier lead win over Carleton after loss to Eastern Conn.



CLERMONT, FL -- Senior pitcher Sarah Logan pitched a complete game shutout to lead Union College to a 5-0 softball victory over Carleton Saturday in Union's first game of a week long Florida trip. In the opener, the Dutchwomen lost to Eastern Connecticut State, 5-1. Union is now 1-2 on the young season.

Logan allowed eight hits and struck out three while walking just one batter. Samantha Chevalier blasted her second homer of the season with a two run homer during a four run fifth inning. Seven different players had a hit for the Dutchwomen against Carleton. Joanna Chalifoux and Aimee Palleschi had back-to-back doubles in that big inning that broke open a 1-0 game after four innings.

Allyson Staats, Palleschi and Kristin Schmidt each drove in a run in the victory.

In the opener, the Warriors got two hits each from Arielle Cooper and Megan Godwin. Emily Komornik gave up four hits in four innings for her first win of the season, and allowed just one run. Erin Miller pitched three scoreless innings in relief.

Molly O'Brien led Union with two of the six hits, and Lindsay Cohen drove in the lone run with an RBI single in the fifth. Wolejko took the loss, allowing two earned runs and six hits in the complete game.

Union plays the University of St. Thomas at 1 p.m. Sunday and faces the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 3 p.m.
