POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Union College men's lacrosse team (7-6, 2-3 Liberty League) earned a 21-8 win over Vassar (3-10, 0-5 Liberty League) at Weinberg Field Wednesday evening.

Senior midfielder Joe Cordrey scored four goals to lead a group of seven Dutchmen that had two or more goals.

Senior midfielder Alex Stone won 14 faceoffs and picked up nine ground balls with junior goalie Devyn Jeffries making eight saves and freshman Brody Shea three for Union. Freshman attack Nolan Stauffer had two goals and three assists.

Vassar's Noah Parson (four goals) scored his first goal just 72 seconds into the contest and when freshman midfielder Shane Flattery followed with a goal only a minute later, it appeared Vassar had a chance at pulling off a landmark victory over a Union program that has qualified for the last two NCAA Tournaments.

However, the Dutchmen would score five unanswered goals and convert four times on the power play in the first half to take a 13-4 lead at the break, a lead they would not surrender.

The Dutchmen scored all of their goals in the second half at even strength, with Pat DeBenedetto and Connor Hall scoring their first goals of the season in the fourth quarter.

Union hosts Skidmore at 5:00 pm Saturday on Senior Night with the final slot in the Liberty League tournament on the line.
