SCHENECTADY, NY -- Emily McGrail scored six goals and
Maggie Comiskey had six points as the Union College ewomen's lacrosse defeated the Rochester Institute of Technology, 16-7 in a Liberty League game at Frank Bailey Field Friday afternoon. The Dutchwomen, now 1-2 in league play, evened their season record to 3-3 while the Tigers fell to 2-1 in league play and 7-3 overall.
McGrail had an assist and Comiskey dished out four assists with her two goals. Union got two goals each from
Brittany Fraser and
Michele Guyette.
Kim Grinhaus made eight saves for the Dutchwomen, who had a 29-21 shot advantage, including 23-8 in the first half. Union won 14 of the 25 draws and had 23 ground balls to RIT's 21. Union had single scores from
Heather Fraser,
Haley Gould,
Ciara Dudeck and
Tory Cameron.
Sage Srakin scored four goals and assisted on another for the Tigers. Katelyn Crane made six saves and Corinna Mandell, Holly Leone and Marlee Vlassis scored once each for the Tigers.
Union led 13-4 after a long first half (55 minutes). The Dutchwomen had an 8-2 lead featuring four goals in the half by McGrail and after Sarkin scored twice to pull the Tigers to within 8-4 with 15:29 left, Union scored the final five goals of the first half. They tallied the next three to start the second half en route to the victory.
The Dutchwomen are back in action at home Saturday to host the University of Rochester for a Liberty League game at 2 p.m.
