Football's Class of 2017

SCHENECTADY, NY -- Union College head football coach John Audino has announced the class of incoming freshmen for the 2013 season.

“This year's incoming freshman class is a very good group that will be expected to contribute at some positions right away, especially with the offensive line,"
said Audino. "We recruited heavily for big people to increase our size and size potential in the future. This includes eight freshman offensive linemen to go along with five freshman defensive linemen.  Most of these players have the size potential to be extremely effective in the future for us. Our recruiting will have to help us this year in the offensive line and the defensive line as our numbers there are not as good as in the past.  We continued to focus on those positions in this year's incoming class.

"The class has a good number of recruits coming in from New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Florida. We have continued to focus on these areas as our feeder states for the program. There are 33 total recruits coming in, with six from the State of Florida.  Included in this year's group are two student-athletes from the Capital District, Ian Bennett from Albany Academy who is JImmer Bennett's brother. He is a linebacker who has good potential. Jacob Fass is a tight end from Columbia who has a lot of potential.

"We are hopeful that this class, along with our upper classmen that we currently have in our program, will give us the balance and the depth that we need to compete for the league championship and an NCAA berth.”
