Dutchwomen soccer loses 1-0 at New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – Sophomore goalkeeper Krysten Kane made seven saves en route to her second shutout and second win of the season on Tuesday, as the State University of New York at New Paltz women's soccer team defeated Union College 1-0, at Alumni Field for their first home victory of the season.

New Paltz improved to 2-3-2 while Union fell to 2-2.

Freshman forward Sophie Constantino notched the first goal of her career in the 42nd minute of the game. Junior midfielder Eleni Anselmi sent an impressive cross from the right wing into the box to set Constantino up for a perfect header into the open net.

Kane stopped seven shots in the win, but required a team save in the 72nd minute when a Union attacker got past her to preserve the shutout. Union's Allison Brustowicz made five saves in Tuesday's contest.

Union led the game by taking 20 shots to the Hawks' 13. Union also had all of the corner kicks in Tuesday's matchup, holding a 5-0 edge.

The Dutchwomen are idle until September 24 when they play at Liberty League rival Skidmore at 7 p.m.
