SCHENECTADY, N.Y. – Union capped an unbeaten weekend with a 3-1 victory over New Hampshire Saturday night, recording its third-straight win against the Wildcats by identical scores.  Last year, Union swept the two-game series in Durham.
The Dutchmen made the best of a man-down situation in the second period after
J.C. Brassard was called for an interference penalty.
Sam Coatta and
Sebastien Gingras converted on short-handed goals just 58 seconds apart to erase a 1-0 deficit.  Union took command of the contest two minutes later on
Mike Vecchione's goal to cap a wild second period.
The 19th-ranked Wildcats (0-1) put 34 shots on net, but managed to sneak just one shot past
Colin Stevens, that coming off the stick of Matt Willows at 4:08 of the second period.
Union (2-0) has now won its last 14 home games dating to last season, the longest active streak in the country.  The fifth-ranked Dutchmen continue their stretch of games against Hockey East opponents with a two-game series next weekend at Maine.
