Volleyball Sweeps Skidmore Before Falling to #16-Clarkson

SCHENECTADY, NY -  The Union College volleyball squad swept Skidmore in just over an hour before falling to 16th ranked Clarkson on Friday night in Liberty League action. Senior Rajpreet Dhaliwal was honored after the match against the Golden Knights with a post-match ceremony. Junior Rachel Wyman also notched career kill #1,000 on the night as the Dutchwomen moved to 21-9 overall and 6-4 in league play.

Sophomore Morgan Clark led both teams with a career-high 15 kills as Union bested Skidmore 25-17, 25-8, 25-12 in the first game of the night. The Dutchwomen finished the match on a 17-2 run to take care of the Thoroughbreds.

Wyman inched closer to #1,000 as she added 13 kills to help power the Union attack. Sophomore Amanda Price was phenomal as the setting in the contest as she recorded 43 assists, a season-high, in the win. Kat Moeller had a match-best 20 digs and Allison VanDoren recorded six kills to go along with 13 digs.

Dhaliwal, who had been hobbled by an injury the past few weeks, made her senior night debut in the second set of the match and immediately picked up a kill in her first opportunity. She finished with two kills in the match, only appearing in the one set.

In the nightcap, the nationally ranked Clarkson Golden Knights dropped the Dutchwomen in straight sets, 25-15, 25-13, 25-21. Kelley White led the Garnet and White with eight kills. Wyman collected her sixth kill and the 1,000th of her three-year career with the last Union kill of the night.

Price followed up her career-best performance with a double-double of 16 assists and a team-high 11 digs against Clarkson.

Union will be back in action tomorrow as they travel to Skidmore for more Liberty League action. The Dutchwomen will face the Saints of St. Lawrence at noon before facing RIT at 2:00pm.
