HANOVER, N.H. – The Union College Dutchwomen dropped a 3-0 decision to Dartmouth College Friday night in the ECAC opener for both teams. The Dutchwomen dipped to 1-7-1 and 0-1-0 in conference play while the Big Green improve to 2-0-0 and 1-0-0 in league play.
Senior Shenae Lundberg saved 14 shots in every period to tally a season-high 42 saves in the loss. She now just needs 50 more stops to move into sole possession of first place all-time in Union history.
Sophomore Emma Korbs scored Dartmouth's first marker of the game at 6:54 in the first period with the help of senior Karlee Odland and sophomore Ailish Forfar. The game would remaine locked at 1-0 until the third period when Dartmouth would seal the contest with two goals in the final period.
Taking advantage of a Union penalty 30 seconds beforehand, junior Lindsay Allen increased Dartmouth's lead with the Big Green's second goal of the game at 3:34 in the third, redirecting a shot off her back following passes from classmate Laura Stacey and sophomore Kennedy Ottenbreit. This was Allen's third goal of the season, after finding the back of the net twice last week against New Hampshire.
To close out the scoring for the night, freshman Morgan Turner netted her first collegiate goal 10 minutes later at 14:27, receiving passes from classmates Hailey Noronha and Elena Horton before dumping the puck in the left corner of the net past the outstretching hand of Lunderg.
The Dutchwomen will continue ECAC play with a matchup against #4 Harvard tomorrow afternoon. The opening faceoff is scheduled for 4:00pm.
