Volleyball Defeats Vassar Before Dropping Four-Setter to #12-Clarkson

CANTON, NY - The Union College volleyball team defeated Vassar College in straight sets to begin the day before falling in four-sets to #12-ranked Clarkson to even their record to 2-2 in the conference and 14-6 overall. The games were supposed to be held at St. Lawrence but due to a leaky roof over court two at SLU, the games were moved to nearby SUNY-Canton.

The site change did not slow down the Dutchwomen in the first match, as Union won the opening set 25-15. Vassar kept it close in the second but Union was able to win the set 25-23. The Dutchwomen were then able to win the third set easily 25-15 to pick up their second conference victory.

Rachel Wyman led all attackers with 11 kills and Lauren Woods added nine. Amanda Price dished out a match-high 19 assists and Kat Moeller collected 14 digs to top both teams.

In the second match of the day, the Dutchwomen gave the Golden Knights a tough game before falling in four. Union fell behind Clarkson 2-0, dropping the first two sets 25-23 and 25-15. The Dutchwomen stayed alive however, winning the third set 25-14. The "U" battled in the fourth set, keeping it close but ultimately lost it 25-22.

Morgan Clark (12), Wyman (11) and Rajpreet Dhaliwal (10) totaled dougle digit kills a piece to lead the Union attack. Price recorded a season-high 34 assists in the loss. Moeller tallied her third game with 30+ digs this season as the sophomore notched a match-best 31. Kelley White added six kills and 13 digs for the Dutchwomen.

Union will now take a break from League play as they host Oneonta this Tuesday at 7:00 PM. The Dutchwomen will also play host to their second Union Invitational of the season this weekend. At the Invitational, Union will face Susquehanna, Bridgewater St. and Lasell.
