ONEONTA, NY -- Hannah Najar scored a goal and an assist as the Union College field hockey team defeated host Hartwick College, 5-1 in a non-league game Tuesday. The Dutchwomen are now 4-6 overall while the Hawks fell to 2-9.
Union had a 21-10 shot advantage on the game and 10-8 advantage in corners.
Laura Aptowitz made seven saves in over 62 minutes of action in the Union net (
Danika Hornick played over seven minutes) while Yanna Boggio stopped eight in nearly 53 minutes of play as one of three Hawk goaltenders.
Claudia Stone gave Hartwick the lead just 5:33 in on an assist from Mikeaela Stuligross. But it was all Union from there.
Alex Wood scored at 26:48 off a penalty corner pass from Najar, and then Najar gave the Dutchwomen the lead for good at 39:27 when she blasted home a loose ball from a close scramble.
Sarah Medd made it 3-1 off a cross from
Allison Troy, and
Jessie Mulvey's goal at 52:34 came from
Hannah Madden.

Sayyida Hasan for the fifth and final goal at 69:59.
Union plays at Western New England Saturday night at 6 p.m.
